To care for your copper jewelry, avoid exposing it to water and keep it clean and dry. Remove it before bathing or swimming. The green tint that may appear on some people's skin can be easily washed off. Use the included polishing cloth to wipe down your piece after wearing and store it in a box to protect it. Over time, the copper may develop a darker patina, adding to its natural beauty. To restore its shine, soak it in an acidic solution of lemon juice or white vinegar.
Copper is a sacred metal used since Egyptian times. DD’s jewelry uses 100% pure recycled copper, electroformed for durability. Some products are untreated to benefit from copper’s healing properties, including improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and relief from joint pain. Copper is hypoallergenic, great for sensitive skin. Its durability and easy care make it a practical choice for everyday wear. The process begins with selecting a base object, such as a leaf or crystal, that will serve as the foundation for the copper plating. We then coat the object in a conductive material and immerse it in an electrolytic bath containing a copper sulfate. An electric current is passed through the solution, causing copper ions to bond and deposit onto the surface of the object. This process is repeated, building up a thin layer of copper that conforms to the shape and texture of the original object. Once the desired thickness is achieved, the object is removed from the bath and carefully cleaned to remove any excess material or debris. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry that retains the organic texture and shape of the form.
Electroformed copper jewelry is made using an electroplating process that deposits a thin layer of copper onto a conductive surface, resulting in a unique and organic piece of jewelry.
